Needless to say, a lot has happened since heading down to NOLA. Firstly, Phoenix of New Orleans (PNOLA) is an amazing non-profit organization (you can find out more at Pnola.org) that is not well known however really should because they bust their butt's doing a ridiculous amount of work for nothing.

Most of the pics above encompass the demolition work done at the first house Ruth Ashlyn and I worked at this week.  Not only did we demo this house however we took down the 8 foot ceiling foundation and got to kick down the ceiling above it which was pretty awesome.  There's also a picture of a header above a door frame that I Put up (my first door header, how monumental!). What I love about working with PNOLA is the trust they have in us.  For example at the start of the day Will, our site supervisor will give us tasks to do and expects them to get done however will not stand over you or even inquire about your project because he is busy doing work elsewhere, giving us full responsibility to complete the task at hand.  It really makes the day go by a lot quicker when you're able to do your own thing whether it be working on making a header, filling in floors, gutting a house, or whatever.

Of course it was also amazing to catch up with the sis finally.  We met up Monday for lunch and went out later that night for drinks and some quality music on Frenchmen street.  The band in the video above is from the second place we went to (Ma they even played when the saints go marching in). This was my first experience on Frenchmen street and I was impressed... apparently there is more to NOLA than bourbon street, yes I was just as shocked as you are.
